Degree Programs
Dual MBA/MSMIS
This program provides an opportunity for students to earn dual master’s degrees in areas that are highly sought after in today’s global economy. Through this program, students have an opportunity to enroll in both the MBA and the MSMIS at the same time. Students are able to share up to 12 credits between the two programs. These shared credits are specified in the dual program degree requirements below.
In order to apply to the dual degree program, admission requirements for both the MBA and the MSMIS must be met.
Students already enrolled in one of the two programs may be eligible for admission to the dual degree program. Contact the UMW Graduate Admissions Office for more information.
To qualify for graduation from both programs, students must meet foundation course requirements for both programs and take the following set of courses to meet all core, concentration and elective requirements for both programs:

Admissions Requirements
- A completed application
- An earned baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university
- A GPA of at least 3.0 for the final 60 undergraduate hours of course work.
- Students whose undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 may be asked to take the GMAT or GRE.
- Current résumé
- A one-page summary of applicant’s educational and professional goals
- Official transcripts from all academic institutions attended
- Three letters of recommendation
- One or more years of professional experience preferred.
- For those for whom English is not their first language, demonstration of competency on the Test of English as a Foreign Language may be required
- Students without prior coursework in foundation areas must complete appropriate classes toward the degree. All students must complete 24 hours of core courses, as well as 12 hours of MSMIS elective credits. A minimum of 36 graduate semester hours must be completed to meet MSMIS degree requirements. Total number of credits needed to complete the MSMIS program ranges from 36 to 51, depending on the number of foundation courses required. Total number of credits needed to complete the MBA/MSMIS Dual Degree program ranges from 48 to 78, depending on the number of foundation courses required.

- Fall Admission: July 1
Spring Admission: November 1
Summer Admission: April 1
