Tips for a Great Visit
- If you haven't already, call ahead or use our online registration form to schedule your visit.
- Don't rush! Plan to spend about an hour and a half on campus. The information session and tour combined last about 90 minutes.
- Call ahead for contact information if you would like to visit with coaches or academic departments. With some advance notice, you can plan a full day at UMW. Our Admissions office is happy to provide contact information if you want to contact an academic department or coach from our athletic department.
- Avoid campus holidays (Fall Break, Spring Break, etc) if possible. While the Office of Admissions is open during many campus holidays, our students are not around and campus is not as lively as usual.
- Arrive early. The University does not have a very large visitor parking lot, so arriving early will give you time to find one of the many off-campus, street parking spots.
- Dress in comfortable clothes and dress for the weather. We do not have a driving tour, so wear clothes and shoes that will be comfortable during a walking tour of the grounds. Also, an interview is not part of the visit, so formal dress is not required.
- Stay for lunch! The campus' dining hall and food court are open to all visitors during normal operating hours.
- Visit Fredericksburg! Before or after your visit to campus, spend some in beautiful, historic downtown Fredericksburg just a few city blocks from campus.
