A fire occurred this evening in Mason Hall, and the entire Randolph-Mason complex was evacuated. While residents of Randolph and The Link were allowed to return to their rooms tonight, Mason remained closed and those residents were relocated for the night. “Although we are dealing with some damage to the facility and the temporary displacement of Mason students, we are thankful all of our systems worked appropriately, students exited the building, and everyone is safe.” said Vice President of Student Affairs Doug Searcy, who was on the scene throughout the evening, along with Residence Hall Life and other staff members. “We appreciate the patience of our students and their extended families as we work through this situation and provide ongoing support.”
For information on housing status, please call 540/654-1058. An update will be provided to the relocated students at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
