Update to Timely Warning Advisory from UMW Police

The search for the armed robbery suspect by law enforcement has been terminated without the suspect being located, although there are indications that he may have fled away from the direction of the UMW campus. Since we cannot presume otherwise, it is possible that conditions may still exist which may pose a threat to members and guests of the community. It is important that students and others in the campus community maintain a high level of awareness regarding these circumstances. Consider carefully whether your presence at or near this area (while unaccompanied) could place you in danger.

The University Police operate safety escorts 24/7 by calling (540) 654-1025 from any phone. If you choose to use this service, it is recommended that if you remain in a safe location (such as inside your locked vehicle or inside your building) until the safety escort arrives. Please note that safety escorts may not be instantaneous due to other activities on campus but the emergency communications officer handling your call will give you an indication of how long it will be until the safety escort can arrive.  Should you decide not to wait after making a request, a courtesy call indicating such is helpful so that we do not have people searching for you once you have departed the location.

It is the duty of the institution to warn of possible dangerous conditions on or near its campus, and at affiliate organizations off campus.
