The following information was provided by the UMW Webmaster – reply with questions or concerns to email@example.com :
On, Friday, January 24, 2014 the UMW Web server will undergo maintenance to upgrade much of its software. Because of the nature of this upgrade, we will be turning off logins to the website around 8 a.m. Friday, and will most likely not re-enable them until sometime during the weekend.
This maintenance will require the Web server to be shut down and restarted on multiple occasions. Because of that, we will be shutting down the regular website and pointing visitors to another version of our website on what is currently our “staging” server. In order to facilitate this process, a complete backup of the current website will be run Thursday, January 23 prior to maintenance and copied to the staging server.
We will automatically point users to that backup copy of the website throughout the maintenance window. To our visitors, very little will change; however, any changes you make to the website on January 23rd will disappear temporarily until we reinstate the “production” website over the weekend.
In addition, if you are currently performing any work on the staging server, you will be temporarily unable to continue that during this maintenance window. Once the upgrade process is completed, we will restore the staging server, and you will be able to continue any work you were doing on that site.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this process, and we will update you once the upgraded software is up and running.
If you have any questions or comments, or you need any urgent updates performed on the site during this maintenance window, please feel free to let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you.
