Original Message (4/18/14):

The UMW community has heavy hearts today as it mourns the death of Robert “Bob” Ericson, a senior environmental science major. Bob died in his residence at the University Apartments of what are presumed to be non-suspicious causes. Further details will be released as they become available.

An active and integral member of the campus community, Bob was an Eagle Scout who graduated from W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax. He was a member of the University Rowing Team and One Note Stand a cappella group. Among his many activities, he recently participated in Relay for Life and was an avid supporter of Student Government Association activities.

To offer support to students and friends of Bob, the University’s Office of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) will be open Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. in Lee Hall 411.  On Monday, the CAPS office, 106 Lee Hall, will be open for walk-in grief counseling from 10 to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.

The remainder of the week, CAPS will be available for support during its regular hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Any student who needs assistance at a time not listed above can contact Campus Police at 654-1025 and ask to speak with a counselor.
