There are over 35,000 Mary Washington alumni spanning the globe. The purpose of the Mary Washington Alumni Association is to create opportunities for alumni to stay connected with each other and the University. Alumni automatically become members of the association and there are no fees to remain a member.
The UMW Alumni Association is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors who works with the Office of Alumni Relations to recommend plans and direction for the Alumni Association. The board meets three times annually and all members serve two-year terms. A seven-member Executive Committee serves as the Association’s officers. The UMW Alumni Association annually recognizes outstanding graduates from across the University for their exceptional personal and professional achievements. Awardees are selected through a comprehensive nomination and evaluation process by the Awards Committee of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and the contributions they have made in their communities and around the world exemplify UMW’s spirit. Awards are given annually and nominations may be submitted online. The UMW Magazine is published three times a year by the Office of Publications. Class notes appear in each issue.
The Alumni Association plans a variety of events and programs throughout the year including Homecoming, Reunion Weekend, regional events, e-newsletter communications, tailgates, networking receptions, service projects, lectures, and much more.
