About the Alumni Association

Alumni reconnect at HomecomingMission: The purpose of the Alumni Association of the University of Mary Washington is to promote the welfare and support the mission of the University of Mary Washington, to encourage an enduring relationship with the University by deepening alumni and student loyalty, and to develop and strengthen the bonds of mutual interest within the University community.

Membership: Any graduate of the University's undergraduate or graduate degree programs or any student who has successfully completed a minimum of 24 credit hours as an undergraduate student or 18 hours as a graduate student at the University of Mary Washington is a member of the Association.  There are currently more than 28,000 Mary Washington alumni across the country and around the world.

UMW Magazine: UMW Magazine is published three times a year by the Office of Publications. Class notes appear in each issue.

Board of Directors

A volunteer board of directors works with the Office of Alumni Relations to recommend plans and direction for the Alumni Association. The board meets four times annually and all members serve two-year terms. A seven-member Executive Committee serves as the Association's officers.

Annual alumni events on campus include Reunion Weekend, Homecoming, and the Distinguished Graduate in Residence visit. Please visit the Calendar of Events for more information on upcoming alumni activities.

AWARDS, Boards and RECOGNITION

The Alumni Association continually seeks the names of candidates for recognition, appointments to the Board of Visitors or the Alumni Association Board of Directors, and other volunteer opportunities.
