The UMW campus will be full of Homecoming spirit on Saturday, October 17! Eagle sports teams will be in action throughout the day at the Battleground, and alumni and their guests will gather at the annual Alumni Tent Party at the Jepson Alumni Executive Center from 1 – 3:30 p.m. Tours of the beautiful facility will be conducted by UMW Ambassadors, the Alumni Association student group. The Class of 2004 will continue the festivities as they celebrate their five-year reunion with a happy hour at the Capital Ale House in downtown Fredericksburg.

Dig deep to win the GOLD Rush! GOLD Rush is the annual opportunity for your class to win the prize for having the highest class giving member-participation rate. Congratulations to the Class of 2008! They won for the 2008-2009 giving year, and they will be recognized at Homecoming during a special GOLD Rush presentation Saturday, October 17. A class picture will be taken with the GOLD Rush Award at 2 p.m.

CELEBRATE REUNION WEEKEND JUNE 3-6
Mark your calendar to return to Mary Washington for an even bigger and better Reunion Weekend! Classes ending in “0” or “5” will celebrate special reunions on campus. Reunion this year includes increased opportunities for class get-togethers, a huge tent over Palmieri Plaza for the reunion picnic, and Saturday's children's activities. Details are being added to the alumni website as they become available. UMW ALUMNA TO SPEAK ABOUT HER NEW MYSTERY
Emyl Jenkins '61 will speak in Virginia about her new mystery The Big Steal, a sequel to her popular Stealing with Style. Ms. Jenkins will appear in Fredericksburg at Beck's Antiques and Books on Sunday, September 27 from 1-4 p.m. She will also be at the Hampton Public Library on Sunday, October 4, at 2 p.m.. The Best of Friends Gift Shop in the library will have its Holiday Open House with refreshments that day starting at 1 p.m. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Hampton Public Library and is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and autographing.
BECOME AN EAGLE MENTOR

The Office of Career Services is looking for alumni to help current Mary Washington students. Register to become a mentor and give the gift of career knowledge to a UMW undergraduate! Serving as an Eagle Mentor requires a minimal time commitment. You choose the mode of communication and your level of involvement. Students use this program to find information about jobs, graduate school programs, employers, or a particular city or region. Create your own Eagle Mentoring account online by clicking on "Create account" and update your information as needed. The Experience website is password protected and can only be accessed by the UMW community.
Construction of Eagle Village is proceeding as planned. The most visible elements of the project are the towers for the stairwells and elevator shafts for the student residence halls. The work site changes every day so check the website often to watch the progress.
MARY WASHINGTON SPORTS ROUNDUP
UMW to host 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis National Championships
The University of Mary Washington will host the 2010 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis National Championships at the Battleground Athletic Complex on May 23-31, 2010. This marks the second time UMW has hosted the women’s championships in the past four years.
UMW to Break Ground for Anderson Center on September 17
Members of the Mary Washington community will celebrate the official groundbreaking September 17 for the William M. Anderson Center. When completed, the facility-- located next to Goolrick Hall--will provide a 2,000-seat venue for basketball, volleyball, community events, and other gatherings.
