A Little Something From Home
The University of Mary Washington Alumni Association’s Fredericksburg Chapter can help life seem a little closer to home for your student. Through its “A Little Something From Home” project, you can send your student an assortment of “survival kits” and a special occasion cake.
With the help of local alumni and student volunteers, kits are personally delivered to students on campus, including the University-owned Apartments at UMW.
Proceeds from this project support the Fredericksburg Chapter Scholarships.
Note: The survival kits mailing will be sent out 8 weeks prior to finals.
Survival Kits and cakes
Fall Exam Survival Kit
Help your student survive Fall Exams with these supplies! Each kit includes a pen, a pencil and a blue book for exams, as well as snacks and much more. It’s everything your student needs for a well deserved study break. Delivered the week of December 1.
Spring Exam Survival Kit
Your student will appreciate all the help in the Final Exam Survival Kit! Each kit contains a pen, a pencil, and a blue book for exams as well as snacks and more to help relieve some stress. Delivered the week of April 20.
Special Occasion Cake
Send a cake for any occasion! Whether for a Happy Birthday, Thinking of you, congratulations, or Good Luck, your student will appreciate receiving this special treat. Cakes are delivered to on-campus residences (this includes the University-owned Apartments at UMW) after 6 p.m. (Monday - Friday) while classes are in session.
2009-2010 Academic Year Cake Delivery Schedule
August 24– October 9
October 14 - November 24
November 30 - December 4
January 11– February 26
March 8 – April 23
We are unable to deliver cakes on Saturdays, Sundays, and University holidays. This includes Fall Break, Winter Break and Spring Break. If the University closes due to inclement weather on your delivery date, the cake or kit will be delivered on the first day the University re-opens.
Note: We are only able to deliver cakes and kits to students who live on campus. Off-campus students will be notified via campus e-mail to pick up their cakes at the Alumni Center on Hanover Street between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Special occasion cake: $15
Orders for cakes and kits for the 2009-2010 academic year will be accepted through October 9, 2009.
