May 7, 2008 Six University of Mary Washington rowers have been named to the All-Middle Atlantic Region teams. Julie Milam and Natassya Bedos were named to the women's varsity team, Sebastian Watt and Brad Cypher were named to the men's varsity team, Emily Webber was named to the women's novice team, and Jeff Ulrich was named to the men's novice team.

May 6, 2008 The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team, returning to the NCAA National Quarterfinals for the first time in four years, will also see juniors John james and Randy Loden advance to the national singles tournament and Loden and partner Kaz Murata advance to the doubles flight at the NCAA Championships at bates College in Lewiston, Maine on May 13-18. James and Loden's advancement in the singles tournament marks the first time in program history the Eagles have had two players in the national 32-player singles draw.

May 6, 2008 The University of Mary Washington baseball team fell at 10th ranked Johns Hopkins University, 17-10, on Tuesday in the team's regular season finale. The Eagles close the regular season with a 26-14 record. •more

May 4, 2008 The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated Johns Hopkins University, 5-2, in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Tournament Third Round on Sunday at the Battleground. The Eagles, 23-3 on the season, advance to the NCAA Division III National Championships event as a team for the first time since 1993. •more

May 4, 2008 In one of the most thrilling comebacks in school history, the 13th ranked University of Mary Washington men's tennis team overcame a 4-1 deficit to knock off fourth ranked Trinity (Tx.) University, 5-4, on Sunday in the third round of the NCAA Division III Tournament at the Battleground. The Eagles move to 22-6 on the season, and will move on to the NCAA Division III National Championships at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine for the first time in four years on May 13-18. •more

May 3, 2008 The University of Mary Washington track & field teams turned in an excellent day at the George Mason invitational on Saturday, with six season best marks. Senior Craisty Falcone improved her time in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, finishing first in the event with a school record time of 10:45.06. •more

The Eagles improve to 21-6 on the season, and will host fourth ranked Trinity University (Texas) on Sunday at noon, with the winner advancing to the NCAA National Championship event. •more
May 3, 2008 The seventh ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team topped Methodist College, 5-1, in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Saturday at the Battleground. The Eagles improve to 22-3 overall and move on to face Johns Hopkins on Sunday at 3 p.m. with the winner advancing to the NCAA National Championships. •more

May 2, 2008 The University of Mary Washington women's tennis team, ranked seventh in the nation, will host the first three rounds of the NCAA Tournament this weekend as one of eight host sites. The Eagles (20-3) will host Methodist University on Saturday at 1:00 p.m., while Johns Hopkins will face the College of New Jersey on Saturday at 3 p.m. •more

May 2, 2008 The University of Mary Washington men's tennis team will host one of eight NCAA regionals this weekend at the Battleground. The Eagles, ranked 12th in the nation, will be the secod seed, and along with top seed in the regional Trinity (Tx.) University will receive a first round bye. On Friday, third seeded Washington & Lee University will face sixth seeded Messiah College at 11 a.m., and fourth seeded Stevens Institute will face fifth seeded Neumann at 9 a.m. •more
May 1, 2008 Seniors Caitlin Erickson and Sarah Finney led five University of Mary Washington women's lacrosse players on the 2008 All-Capital Athletic Conference teams. Erickson, an attacker, and Finney, a defender, earned first team honors, while senior Emily Talbot, freshman Katie Wallis, and junior Emily Miller took second team accolades. •more

April 30, 2008 University of Mary Washington junior Becky Morse-Karzen has been invited to participate in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis National Singles Tournament, as was announced today. Morse-Karzen will also team with senior Natalia Fugate in the national doubles draw. Both tournaments will take place at the NCAA Division III National Championships at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, on May 13-18.
Morse-Karzen will compete in the 32-player singles draw, and will team with Fugate in the 16-team doubles draw. UMW will look to advance to the final eight as a team for the first time since 1993. The Eagles host a six-team regional at the Battleground this weekend, facing the winner of Friday's Methodist/Elizabethtown match on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

April 25, 2008 After being limited to one infield single through six innings, the University of Mary Washington baseball team used a five run, five hit seventh to top USA South Conference champion Christopher Newport University, 5-3, on Friday at Dickinson Stadium. The Eagles improve to 25-12 on the season, while the Captains fall to 27-10. •more

April 24, 2008 The University of Mary Washington women's track and field team sent sevral competitors to the Penn Relays on Thursday. The women's 4x400 meter relay finished with a time of 4:00.33, the second fastest time in school history. The relay consisted of Mae Winchester, Bridget Dettmann, Colleen Hopkins, and Chia Winchester. In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, senior Cristy Falcone finished with a school record time of 10:52.47, improving her NCAA provisional qualifying time. •more
April 23, 2008 The University of Mary Washington softball team, runners up in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament, have placed four players on the 2008 All-CAC team, released today. Junior pitcher Kirsten Rowell, junior outfielder Cathy Hull, senior third baseman Ashley Sifer, and sophomore shortstop Kaitlin Petrella were named to the team as well. •more
April 22, 2008 The seventh ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team closed the regular season with a 6-3 victory over #21 Johns Hopkins University on Tuesday in Baltimore to improve to 21-3 on the season. •more

April 22, 2008 University of Mary Washington senior Caitlin Erickson has enjoyed the greatest season in UMW women's lacrosse history. Erickson, an attacker from Cypress, Texas, has broken the UMW school records for career points (295), career assists (122), season points (135), and season assists (77) this year, leading the Eagles into today's Capital Athletic Conference semifinal game at St. Mary's College. •more
April 13, 2008 The University of Mary Washington riding team competed at the zone championships today at Randolph College in Lynchburg, and finished in second place, thus advancing the full team to national show held at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center on May 8-11. Junior Jessica Van Brocklin and Freshman Shannon Brown won their respective classes for the team competition.
