UMW's Altmann, Mitchell Named Second Team All-Region by D3Hoops.com
March 19, 2009University of Mary Washington basketball players BRANDON ALTMANN (Vienna, Va./Madison) and ASHTON MITCHELL (Prince George, Va./Prince George) have been named to the D3Hoops.com all-region basketball teams. Both Altmann and Mitchell were named as second team selections.

February 26, 2009The University of Mary Washington men's basketball team shot 54% from the floor, but committed 17 turnovers in a 98-79 loss at Wesley College in the Capital Athletic Conference semifinals on Thursday night in Dover, Del. The Eagles finish the season with a 14-12 overall mark.

Altmann Leads UMW Men's Basketball Past York, 83-76, in CAC Tourney 1st Round
February 24, 2009Junior center Brandon Altmann recorded his fifth straight double-double with 26 points and 17 rebounds to lead four Eagles in double figures, as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team defeated York College, 83-76, in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday night in Fredericksburg. The Eagles who improve to 14-11 on the season, will visit Wesley College on Thursday night in the CAC semifinals starting at 7:00 p.m.

February 23, 2009University of Mary Washington junior Brandon Altmann and senior Andrew Cox were named the Capital Athletic Conference Players of the Week for men's basketball and baseball, respectively, for the week of February 16, 2009, as released by the league on Monday.

UMW Men's Basketball Closes Regular Season with 77-56 Win Over Stevenson
February 21, 2009Junior center Brandon Altmann scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to pace the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team to a 77-56 win over Stevenson University on Saturday in the Eagles' regular season finale. Senior guard Matt Hale added 18 points and five assists for the Eagles, who will host York College in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference Tournament on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m.

Altmann, Hale Lead UMW Men's Basketball Past Wesley, 91-90
February 18, 2009Junior center Brandon Altmann scored 21 points and grabbed 17 rebounds and senior guard Matt Hale made five three pointers en route to 17 points as the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team topped Wesley College, 91-90, on Wednesday night at Goolrick Gymnasium. With the win, the Eagles clinch a home game in next week's Capital Athletic Conference tournament.
UMW Basketball to Raise Awareness for Fight Against Cancer at February 18 Doubleheader vs. Wesley College
February 17, 2009The University of Mary Washington women's and men's basketball teams will help the fight for a cure for cancer at its February 18 doubleheader against Capital Athletic Conference foe Wesley College. At halftime of the women's game, 10 volunteers will donate 10 inches of their hair for the Locks of Love program, which makes wigs for children with cancer. In addition the women's team will don pink warmups in support of the fight against breast cancer through the "Pink Zone" program.

Five Starters Reach Double Figures as UMW Men's Basketball Tops Gallaudet, 86-80
February 7, 2009Senior guard Matt Hale scored his 1000th point at the University of Mary Washington with a free throw with 11 seconds remaining en route to 20 points as the Eagle men's basketball team defeated Gallaudet University, 86-80, on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference action in Washington, D.C. The Eagles improve to 8-4 in CAC play, and 11-9 overall.

February 2, 2009The University of Mary Washington men's basketball team dropped a 71-66 decision at York College in Capital Athletic Conference action on Monday night in York, Pa. The Eagles drop their second straight game, and fall to 10-8 overall and 7-4 in CAC action.

January 31, 2009The University of Mary Washington fell into an early hole and couldn't fight back in dropping a 97-81 decision at Hood College on Saturday in Capital Athletic Conference action in Frederick, Md. The Eagles fall to 10-8 overall and 7-3 in CAC play.

Storus, Dickman Lead UMW Men's Basketball Past Salisbury, 79-73, in OT
January 28, 2009Freshman forward Tad Dickman scored a career high 19 points and senior guard Kevin Storus scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and made a key steal late in overtime to lift the University of Mary Washington men's basketball team to a 79-73 overtime win against Salisbury University on Wednesday night at Goolrick Gymnasium in Capital Athletic Conference action. With the win, UMW improves to 10-7 overall and 7-2 in CAC play.
