UMW Field Hockey Head Coach Dana Hall

Head Coach Dana HallOne of the winningest collegiate field hockey coaches in America, Dana Hall has led the University of Mary Washington to the elite among Division III field hockey. Through 17 years at Mary Washington, Hall has compiled a 227-99-3 record (.695 career winning percentage), and an overall career record of 238-103-3.


Hall’s tenure has seen the Eagles rise to national prominence in the early 1990’s, when the Eagles advanced to four NCAA Tournaments in five years, including 1993, when the Eagles advanced to the national title game. Recently, the Eagles have continued that excellence, winning at least 11 games in nine of the past 10 seasons, including 12 victories this fall.


Many accolades have come Hall’s way, including NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year in 1993 and Capital Athletic Conference Coach of the Year on four occasions. Also the coach of UMW’s highly successful women’s lacrosse program, Hall was named Street & Smith’s 360Lacrosse.com’s NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 2001 as the Eagles advanced to the National Championship semifinals for the first of two consecutive appearances. When combining the success of her two programs, Hall is among the most successful coaches in the nation. Over the past eight seasons for each of her sports, she has won a combined 212 games while dropping just 88 (.707 winning percentage), and advanced to a combined nine NCAA Tournaments.


A multi-sport athlete at Frostburg State University, Hall earned all-state honors in both field hockey and lacrosse for the Bobcats. An associate professor of health and physical education, Hall also serves as Assistant Athletic Director and Senior Women’s Administrator at Mary Washington. The mother of two daughters, Hall resides in Spotsylvania, Va.

Assistant Coach Robin WoodieAssistant Coach Robin Woodie

One of the highest regarded coaches in the state of Virginia, Robin Woodie joined the UMW program in 2006 after one of the most highly successful high school coaching careers in state history. Woodie led Stafford High School to the 2005 Virginia state championship, finishing the year undefeated with a 24-0 record. Her knowledge of the game, as well as her recruiting contacts around the state should provide immediate assistance to the program.
