Six UMW Rowers Named to All-Region Teams
May 7, 2008Six University of Mary Washington rowers have been named to the All-Middle Atlantic Region teams. Julie Milam and Natassya Bedos were named to the women's varsity team, Sebastian Watt and Brad Cypher were named to the men's varsity team, Emily Webber was named to the women's novice team, and Jeff Ulrich was named to the men's novice team. •more

UMW Rowers Compete at Finals of Knecht Cup; Men's Varsity Eight Takes 1st Place
April 13, 2008The University of Mary Washington rowing teams continued at the Knecht Cup regatta on Sunday, with two boats racing in finals competition. The men's varsity eight finished in first place overall, winning the final with a time of 6:17.3. The women's varsity eight finished fourth overall in the final with a time of 7:05.1, in a race won by the University of Rochester. •more
UMW Completes Day One at Knecht Cup Regatta
April 12, 2008The University of Mary Washington rowing teams competed at the Knecht Cup regatta on Saturday with heat races. The women's varsity eight finished first in its heat with a time of 7:03.2, and will advance to the grand final on Sunday. Members of the boat included Julie Milam, Natassya Bedos, Karolyn Milton, Dana Maas, Jessica Bellah, Grace Jamison, Stephanie Mercurio, Stacey Nathan, and Stephanie Lefferts. •more
UMW Rowing Teams Win two Petite Finals at Johns Hopkins Invitational
April 5, 2008The University of Mary Washington rowing teams competed at the Johns Hopkins Invitational in Baltimore on Saturday, with two race wins. The women's second varsity eight won the petite final with a time of 7:11.36. Members of that boat included Liz O'Neill, Marielle Gibbons, Betsy Bouton, Lauren Cisek, Jessica Pryor, Leslie Shafer, Abbey Potter, Amanda Hartzell, and Ashley Leake. The men's varsity eight won its final with a time of 5:53.36. That boat was manned by Michelle Ryder, Sebastian Watt, Kyle Seymour, Patrick Wood, Daniel Smith, Bradley Cypher, Timothy Sherrange, Alex LaBranche, and Kelley Wheaton. •more

UMW Women's Rowing Varsity Eight Ranked 13th by CRCA
March 17, 2008The University of Mary Washington women's rowing team has had its varsity eight boat ranked 13th in the nation by the Collegaite Rowing Coaches Association. The Eagles, who finished seventh at the NCAA Championships a year ago, will open the Spring season on March 30 at the Occoquan Sprints. •more
UMW Rowing Teams Raise $5,200 in Row For Humanity
February 21, 2008On Wednesday, February 21, the UMW men's and women's rowing teams completed their fourth annual Row for Humanity -- a fundraiser designed to support Habitat for Humanity and the team's equipment needs. Each member of the team rowed as hard as they could for one hour. Despite temperatures in the 30s and the occasional snow shower, the rowers worked very hard and after 10 hours had tallied 476,969 meters. They also were able to raise over $5,200! The event was quite a success and the teams now look forward to getting on the water when they travel to Gainesville, Georgia for their Spring Break trip in a week. •more
Men's Novice Eight Competes at Head of the Occoquan Regatta
November 3, 2007The University of Mary Washington men's rowing team sent the men's novice eight boat to the Head of the Occoquan regatta on Saturday afternoon. The boat finished in fifth place among 18 schools, with a time of 18:54. •more
UMW Novice Rowers Compete in Erg Competition at Washington College
October 28, 2007Due to high winds, Sunday's Tapke Chase regatta was cancelled at Washington College, but the four teams competed in an erg competition, with Mary Washington finishing first on both the men's and women's events. •more
UMW Rowing Competes at Occoquan Chase
October 14, 2007The University of Mary Washington rowing teams competed at the Occoquan Chase regatta on Sunday. The women's varisty eight (Julie Milam, Olivia Cothren, Stephanie Mercurio, Dana Maas, Erica Milton, Natassya Bedos, Abby Potter, Betsy Bouton, and Stacey Nathan) finished eighth among 20 boats, with a time of 17:10.1, in an event won by North Carolina. •more
