Clendenin Places 20th in 200 backstroke at NCAA Division III Swimming Championships
March 22, 2008Freshman Stephen Clendenin improved his career best with a time of 1:53.82, finishing in 20th place in the 200 yard backstroke at the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming Championships in Miami, Ohio on Saturday. Clendenin completes a very successful season, which saw him gain Capital Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, and swim in three events at the NCAA Championships. •more
UMW's Clendenin Finishes 17th in 400 IM at NCAA Swimming Nationals
March 21, 2008University of Mary Washington freshman Stephen Clendenin finished in 17th place in the 400 yard individual medley at the 2008 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming Championships, hosted by the College of Wooster, on Friday. Clendenin just misses out on All-America honors in the event. •more

De La Garza Earns All-America Honors for Fourth Straight Year at NCAA Swimming Championships
March 15, 2008Senior Lorena de la Garza finished 11th in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:07.46 to capture All-America status for the fourth straight year at the NCAA Division III Women's National Swimming Championships on Saturday. De la Garza becomes the fourth athlete in any sport in Mary Washington history to earn All-America status for four years. •more
Crockett, de la Garza Compete at NCAA Division III Swimming Championships
March 14, 2008Freshman Sarah Crockett and senior Lorena de la Garza are competing at the NCAA Division III National Championships at Miami (Ohio). On Thursday, Crockett finished 42nd in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:16.11, and on Friday, finished 19th in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.68. De la Garza finished 21st in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 59.05. The championships will continue on Saturday. •more
UMW Swimming Sending Three Competitors to NCAA Championships
March 6, 2008The University of Mary Washington women's and men's swimming teams will send three swimmers to the NCAA Division III National Championships. For the women, senior Lorena de la Garza and freshman Sarah Crocket will advance to the women's event, while the men will send freshman Stephen Clendenin to the men's event in two weeks. •more

January 28, 2008Mary Washington freshman SARAH CROCKETT (Toano, VA/Lafayette) is the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Week for Jan. 28, 2008, after winning all six of her races over the weekend, including three individual firsts, as the Eagles remained atop the CAC standings with a 5-0 conference record. •more

January 25, 2008The University of Mary Washington men's and women's swim teams swept Marymount University in a Capital Athletic Conference dual meet on Friday at Goolrick Natatorium. The Eagle women improve to 9-1 overall, while the men improve to 8-2. UMW won the women's meet, 110-70, and the men's meet, 110-76. •more

UMW's Dunn Named CAC Men's Swimmer of the Week
January 15, 2008University of Mary Washington freshman Brad Dunn has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week for the week ending January 13. Dunn finished first in the 1000 freestyle (10:28.58) and the 100 freestyle (51.34) in UMW's win over St. Mary's on Saturday. He also swam as part of the winning 400 freestyle relay. •more

November 20, 2007University of Mary Washington freshman swimmers Stephen Clendenin and Sarah Crockett have been named Capital Athletic Conference Swimmers of the Week for the week of November 18 by the league office. •more
