UMW's Morse-Karzen, Malpeli Fall in First Round of NCAA Tennis Tournament
May 22, 2009University of Mary Washington senior Becky Morse-Karzen (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) fell in the first round of the NCAA Division III National tennis singles bracket on Friday at Oglethorpe University. Morse-Karzen and classmate Kate Malpeli (Vienna, Va./George C. Marshall) fell in the opening round of the doubles flight as well.
Morse-Karzen, Malpeli Advance to NCAA Individual Tournaments
May 20, 2009University of Mary Washington seniors Becky Morse-Karzen (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) and Kate Malpeli (Vienna, Va./George C. Marshall) have advanced to the NCAA Division III national singles and doubles championships, to be played at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, Ga. on May 22-24. Morse-Karzen returns to the national singles draw for the second straight year, and will join Malpeli in the national doubles flight.
#10 UMW Women's Tennis Falls to #9 Denison, 5-1, in NCAA Tourney 3rd Round
May 10, 2009The 10th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team dropped a 5-1 decision at #9 Denison University on Sunday in Granville, Ohio, in the third round of the NCAA Division III national championships. The Eagles end the season with a record of 18-8.

The Eagles, 18-7 on the season, will face Denison University in the third round on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

April 30, 2009YORK, Pa. - Mary Washington senior Rebecca Morse-Karzen (Wilmette, Ill./New Tier) was named the CAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year for the second-straight year, while freshman teammate Kathryn Schafer (New Market, Md./Linganore) and head coach Patrick Catullo completed the sweep of individual awards on the 2009 All-CAC Women's Tennis Team.

UMW Women's Tennis Captures Sixth Straight CAC Title With 9-0 Win Over Salisbury in CAC Championship
April 24, 2009The University of Mary Washington won its sixth straight Capital Athletic Conference championship with a 9-0 victory over Salisbury University in the CAC Championship match on Friday at the Battleground. The 10th ranked Eagles win their 17th league crown in the 19-year history of the league.

April 21, 2009The 10th ranked University of Mary Washington women's tennis team defeated St. Mary's College, 9-0, in the Capital Athletic Conference tournament semifinals at the Battleground on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles, 16-7 on the season, will host Salisbury University in the CAC Championship on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
