Jackie, a Vermont native, is in her fourth year with the University of Mary Washington Athletic Training Staff.  Jackie served one year as the assistant athletic trainer before becoming the Head Athletic Trainer in the Fall of 2005. 

She received her BS in Athletic Training/Exercise Science and a minor in Health from Ithaca College in 2001 and earned her MSEd in Athletic Training Education from Old Dominion University in 2004.   She also holds certifications as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Performance Enhancement Specialist. 

Jackie’s primary sport responsibilities are to the Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Men’s Basketball, Baseball  and Women’s Lacrosse teams with shared responsibility of all individual sports. 

Jackie currently resides in Arlington, Virginia

Kristy is in her third year as the Assistant Athletic Trainer with the University of Mary Washington Athletic Training Staff.  Originally from Pennsylvania, Kristy received her Bachelor of Science Degree from The Pennsylvania State University in Kinesiology/Athletic Training in 2003.  She then went on to pursue her Master of Science Degree at Michigan State University in Kinesiology/Athletic Training and completed it in 2005. 

Kristy’s primary sports responsibility’s include Women’s Field Hockey, Women’s Volleyball, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Lacrosse and Softball teams with shared responsibility of all individual sports. 

Kristy currently resides in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Jonathan Sidell is a senior Biology major from McLean, Virginia, who is in his fifth year as a student athletic trainer. After graduation, he plans to pursue a graduate degree in Physician Assistant Studies and eventually practice orthopedic medicine. Throughout his career he has worked with Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Field Hockey, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball, Women’s Lacrosse, and Softball. He will be working with Baseball during the Spring 2008 season.

Rose Schirle is sophomore biology major from Chesapeake, VA who is serving her second year as a Student Athletic Trainer. After graduation she plans to pursue further education in the medical field. She worked with the Women’s Soccer team in Fall 2007 and plans to work with the Men’s Lacrosse team in Spring 2008.

Karina Lopez is a senior biology major from Herndon, VA, who is serving her first year as a Student Athletic Trainer. After graduation she plans to join the Peace Corps, and go to medical school. She worked with the Men’s Soccer team in Fall 2007 and plans to work with Women’s Lacrosse team in Spring 2008.

Mark Ford, a Physician Assistant, specializes in Sports Medicine, Pediatrics, Fracture Care, and General Orthopedics. He completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Science Degree at James Madison University before continuing his training at Wake Forest School of Medicine for his Physician Assistant Degree. Mark graduated with honors in both programs.

Mark holds concurrent certifications in Athletic Training and Emergency Medicine. He is associated with the United States Olympics, and worked closely with USA wrestling. Mark served as the team Physician Assistant for William and Mary College and Christopher Newport University.  Mark has been acting as team Physician Assistant for the University of Mary Washington athletic department for several years and is a valued member of the Sports Medicine Team. 

Mark's goal is for all his patients to receive personalized, compassionate care for their orthopedic issues.

A Wisconsin native, Dr. Bartz chose Southern California to complete his graduate work in physiology. His passion for healthcare led him to work with the top medical professionals in the most demanding Los Angeles Medical Centers.  After receiving the Service Excellence Award in 2000, Dr. Bartz dedicated himself to a profession centered on healing the body naturally and is a highly respected graduate of the esteemed Los Angeles College of Chiropractic.  He is a certified Active Release provider and a sports rehab specialist. He has successfully improved performance in some of the top athletes in sports including: triathlons, baseball, football, hockey, soccer, gymnastics, and swimming.  Dr. Bartz comes to the athletic training room to provide services on Tuesday afternoons.  Please ask one of the staff athletic trainers for an appointment.

Dr. Dameron and Dr. Hughes have made their dental services available to the athletes at the University of Mary Washington for the past few years. 

Dr. Dameron received his undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond and then went on to the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry and graduated in the top of his class.  He was selected to further his professional education at The University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore and completed their General Practice Residency in 1980. While there, he received extensive training in oral surgery, and advanced complex dental reconstruction.

Dr. Hughes received his Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University before entering dental school at MCV/VCU in Richmond, Virginia.  Dr. Hughes graduated with honors in 2001 and was selected as one of two residents to further their training in a general practice residency at Wake Forest University/North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC.  While completing his residency, he gained invaluable experience in the treatment of medically compromised/special needs patients and dental injuries sustained from trauma.
