Internal Audit Department

The purpose of this website is to explain the "what and why" of the Internal Audit Department at the University of Mary Washington. This website will help you determine how internal audit can assist you and when it is important to contact the Department. Finally, this website will educate you on internal controls - what they are, who is responsible, and why they are important.

Internal Audit is staffed by the Director and the IT Audit Manager. Internal Audit reports to the President and the Board of Visitors of the University, as can be seen in the University's organizational chart. The Internal Audit Department is chartered by the Board and the President to provide an independent appraisal activity of the University's operations. The Charter outlines the Director's authority and responsibilities in providing this service to the University.
