Lee Hall Renovation and Addition Project
The Lee Hall renovation project is a planned initiative to create a one-stop student-service facility at Mary Washington. Lee Hall will be renovated, and an addition will be built. The project is expected to take two years to complete, and the space must be vacated during this time. To determine where Lee Hall staff will relocate during the project and which offices will move back into the renovated space, a planning committee, under the direction of the Office of the Vice President for Administration, Finance, and Legislative Affairs was formed. The committee met regularly to discuss options, weigh pros and cons of different scenarios, and develop a plan to accommodate the changes.
In the midst of planning office moves related to the Lee Hall renovation project, it became apparent that a second renovation project would simultaneously be going on. The discovery of mold in the George Washington (GW) Hall basement required that this space also be vacated and renovated. Vacating GW Hall basement reduced the options for additional swing space to use during the Lee Hall renovation.
At the same time, a campus initiative to hire new faculty required additional faculty office spaces. Campus space was at capacity, so three modular office buildings and an off-site facility at Centre Court, located at the intersection of Routes 1 and 3, will accommodate the campus office moves.
