Mission Statement
The Office of Career Services at the University of Mary Washington assists students and alumni in developing and implementing their career goals, whether this involves graduate study or work upon graduation. We accomplish this through individual counseling, workshops, resources, and career programs. Working with employers, we strive to connect students with opportunities prior to and after graduation.
As a part of the Division of Student Affairs, Career Services encourages students to seek out experiential opportunities, which will enhance their interpersonal, and leadership skills. Using a wellness model the staff empowers students to achieve their career goals through assessment, exploration and implementation of appropriate career strategies. Working with students across all academic years and at all developmental stages, we promote in-class and out-of-class experiences that will assist students in developing the professional skills required for responsible civic participation in the local and global community.
As a part of Academic Affairs, Career Services serves students, faculty members and employers by coordinating the Academic Credit Internship program. These internships provide students the opportunity to integrate classroom learning and workplace based experiential learning.
