REASONS TO RECRUIT AT UMW
- Our students are top-notch--those who enrolled in the fall of 2008
had an average GPA of 3.70 and a score of 1810 on the SAT-I.

- The UMW education prepares them for a wide range of career fields. With intensive writing requirements, as well as speaking requirements, and small class size, students develop into well-rounded individuals who have excellent problem-solving, analytical, and verbal skills to offer.
- Our location is convenient for employers. We are between Washington, D.C. and Richmond, VA, just a couple of miles off exit 130 on I-95.
- We are small enough to be able to work individually with you. Unlike some larger schools, we can customize our services to aid each employer.
REPRESENTATIVE FIELDS OF STUDY
UMW offers more than 40 majors and programs of study. Majors/Programs at the UMW Fredericksburg campus include: Business Administration, Computer Science, Economics, Education (Teacher Licensure), English, Environmental Science, Historic Preservation, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.
Many other liberal arts majors are also offered, along with the opportunity for students to design their own majors in fields such as Communications, Journalism and Women's Studies. The Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) degree is also offered as an option for adult students.
Programs at the College of Graduate and Professional Studies include:
Bachelor of Professional Studies with concentrations: Leadership/ Management, Computer Information Systems, Accounting, Network Security, Interdisciplinary Studies, e-Commerce, Geographic Information Science.
Master of Education for Licensed Teachers with concentration areas in: Diverse Student Populations, Educational Leadership, ESL, Instructional Technology Leadership, Literacy Specialist, Special Education, Autism Certificate.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) with concentrations: Accounting, Contracts and Procurement Management, General Management, Information Security, Management Technology, Organization and Human Resource Development, Project Management, Public Administration, Risk Management and Insurance, Health Care Management.
Master of Science in Management Information Systems (MSMIS), MBA-MSMIS dual degree.
Certifications include: business, professional, technology, education.
PRESENCE ON CAMPUS
We encourage employers to increase their visibility on campus through information sessions, outreach to faculty, tabling in the Campus Center and so on. We are more than willing to work with you to plan the best strategy to increase your visibility on campus.
SPECIAL PROGRAMS
We welcome employer participation in programs such as mock interviews and workshops. We also seek speakers for programs such as our program for sophomores: Majors, Careers and More.
Conducting mock interviews or speaking in front of students is a great way to increase your organization's visibility and credibility with students. Please contact Gary Johnson at gjohnson@umw.edu or 540-654-1022 if you are interested in presenting a program to UMW students.
