Photo of Rosemary Barra, Interim VP for Academic Affairs and Dean of the FacultyRosemary Barra, Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty, serves as the chief academic officer for the College of Arts and Sciences.  She oversees all academic operations of the College in matters regarding the faculty, the curriculum, academic programs, and academic support.  Her office also manages programs that support faculty development, promote undergraduate research activity, and aid faculty in submitting proposals for external grants.

Dr. Barra received her Bachelor’s of Science from Duquesne University and her Ph.D. from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.  After post-doctorate work at the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and Columbia University, she joined the faculty of Mary Washington in 1982 as a member of the department of Biological Sciences.  She continues to teach courses such as Immunology and the Biology of Cancer, and holds the title of William M. Anderson, Jr. Distinguished Chair in Biological Sciences.
