Publications

The Dictionary of Academic Regulations: Furnishes the information needed for planning and completing a B.A., B.S., or B.L.S. degree program at the University of Mary Washington. Faculty should familiarize themselves with the academic policies, regulations, and procedures of the University.

The Freshman Academic Planning Guide and the Transfer Student Academic Planning Guide: These guides are designed to assist new students in planning an academic program of study. They are also good resources for advisors.

General Education Requirements: The University of Mary Washington requires all students to pursue broad studies in the arts, the humanities, and the sciences. These studies constitute the General Education component of the University's academic program and serve as a common academic foundation for all the University of Mary Washington students on the Fredericksburg campus.

The Advising Handbook: The Advising Handbook assists academic advisors in guiding their freshmen, pre-major, and major advisees.

The 2008-2009 Parents and Families Academic Brochure: This Parents and Families Academic Brochure (PDF) has been designed to answer academic questions frequently asked by the families of UMW students. It does not replace the specific details of the academic program or the procedures, policies, and regulations that appear in the current University of Mary Washington Academic Catalog or the Dictionary of Academic Regulations. The brochure is meant as a companion piece to the Freshman Advising Portfolio. While aimed at the parents and family of UMW freshmen, it is a valuable resources for all UMW parents and family members. The Brochure will appear online soon.
