The Department of Art & Art History is housed in Melchers Hall, the right wing of the duPont arts complex. Seven full-time faculty and a varying number of adjuncts teach over 50 courses each year in art and art history.

As of May 2009, there were over 100 declared majors in the Studio Art program and over 80 in Art History.

All students enrolled in an art or art history course have access to department facilities, which include seven art studios, a darkroom, two art history lecture rooms, a slide library, and a digital media lab.
