Senior Assessment
Assessment
Coordinator: Professor
Carole Garmon
Senior Portfolios Due: February 7
Senior Exhibition Schedule: See Below
Senior Assessment is an opportunity to share with students and faculty your accomplishments as a Studio Art major. You may choose one of two ways: exhibition or portfolio. (The choice is made when you submit your Major Portfolio by the end of your junior year.) With either, you must present your best work produced during the program and clarify it with an Artist's Statement.
Choice #1: Senior Exhibition
If you opt to exhibit your work, the Assessment Coordinator will assign you, with two or more seniors, to produce and publicize a professional exhibition of your work in duPont Gallery. (The Assessment Coordinator determines the schedule.) An exhibition opens with an evening reception and runs for nine consecutive days.
Choice #2: Senior Portfolio
The same standards of quality and selectivity apply to choosing works for a portfolio as it does for an exhibition. Instead of sharing your work in a gallery, however, you must present it professionally through slides.
The Review Process
Studio Art faculty will meet to review exhibitions and portfolios at a given time. Assessment of works is based on the criteria outlined on the Senior Assessment form. All reviews are forwarded to students' major advisors, and students must contact them if they wish to receive a copy.
Applying for Honors in Studio Art?
