Senior Exhibition: Labels & Inventory Lists

Each piece in the show requires a label and must also be recorded in an "inventory list". Together, they provide basic information about a work, including its monetary value.

Sarah Crow, Untitled, 2002Currently, the Student Supervisors prepare all labels for the show. Your responsibility is to cut the labels, make copies of the inventory list (for gallery visitors), and submit the following information when requested:

  1. Artist's Name
  2. Title of the Piece
  3. Medium
  4. Year Piece Was Created
  5. Sale Price (may not exceed the insurance price)
  6. Insurance Price

The sale and insurance prices will appear on the inventory list only. The sale price is for gallery visitors who may want to buy a piece; the insurance price is for the UMW Galleries, should damage (such as a fire) occur to the piece.

When setting the sale and insurance prices for your work, consider the cost of materials and the number of hours spent in creating a piece and how much you might charge by the hour.

Always set a realistic price, especially if you want to sell the piece. Any work you do not want to sell mark as "NFS" (not for sale), but an insurance price must be included.
