Department of Chemistry Facilities

Jepson Science Center
The department of Chemistry is housed in the Jepson Science Center which opened in Fall of 1998.

Departmental laboratories contain instrumentation for gas and liquid chromatography; ultraviolet-visible, infrared (FT), fluorescence, nuclear magnetic resonance, atomic absorption, and emission (ICP) spectroscopy; mass spectrometry; polarography; anodic stripping and cyclic voltammetry; and bomb calorimetry. In addition, there is equipment for X-ray diffraction and high vacuum studies. Microcomputers and the University's minicomputer are available and are employed in many aspects of the program. The department has obtained a scanning tunneling and atomic force microscope through a recently awarded NSF Major Research Initiative Grant
