History of Science - a new course - spring 2005
This course will explore the history of science from the Greeks to present day, branching the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geology. We will make use of Thomas Kuhn's The Structure of Scientific Revolutions to examine scientific discoveries as paradigm shifts in the existing scientific culture. Numerous biographies (some autobiographies) and articles concerning scientists who have made tremendous impact in their fields for their time period will be read.
