Chemistry Degree Requirements

The major program in chemistry requires 39 credits in chemistry courses including 19 credits of upper-level courses. The required courses are Chemistry 111, 112, 211, 212, 253, 254, 383, 384, 387, 388, 423, and 453. It is recommended that students complete one or more additional upper-level chemistry course electives.

Chemistry 111 and 112 are the entering courses for the major program and are the minimum prerequisites for all upper-level chemistry courses. Mathematics 122 and Physics 105 and 106 are prerequisites to Chemistry 383 and 384 and should be taken before the junior year.

NOTE - Chemistry 252 is no longer a requirement or an offered course in the department. It has been substituted with Chemistry 253 and 254.
