Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science

The General Education component of the BA/BS curriculum enables you to explore a variety of subjects in the arts, natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences.

The University also offers a number of courses in Health and Physical Education. Special features of our academic program include a wide selection of courses, dynamic independent study options, extensive internship opportunities, undergraduate research opportunities, exciting study abroad possibilities, and an outstanding faculty that provides a remarkable amount of personal attention.

Our curriculum also provides the flexibility of creating your own major or combining two established majors. Special Majors require approval and combine courses from two or more disciplines. Students have designed programs in Linguistics, African-American Studies, International Business, Italian Studies, Asian Studies, Public Affairs, Journalism, Human Resource Management, and Women's Studies.

Students who double-major can combine any of the majors currently offered; for instance, a psychology/business administration combination might appeal to the student interested in human resources. Other combinations might include music/psychology (music therapy), studio art/biology (medical illustration), or philosophy/political science (pre-law).

See "Major Courses of Study" for the list of all major areas available at UMW.
