Requirements for Internships - ECON 499
1. Internships must meet all requirements set by Career Services. They must be approved by Career Services before the end of the add period in the semester in which credit is given.
2. Internships must relate to economics and the content of the economic curriculum. They must also relate to the student's course work and career goals.
3. Internships may receive a maximum of 3 credit hours per internship. No more than 2 internships may be counted in the major for a total of 6 internship credits.
4. All requirements for the internship must be completed by the beginning of classes the semester following the one in which the internship was undertaken.
Criteria for Evaluation of Internships
1. Initial meeting with faculty supervisor prior to starting the internship and before the end of the second week of classes.
2. Bi-weekly contacts with the faculty supervisor.
3. A journal to include all dates and hours work with descriptions of activities during each time period.
4. A portfolio containing examples/exhibits/outcomes/etc. and a description of each.
5. A paper, the content and specifics to be determined by the supervisor.
6. A short description of the internship to be placed on the Past Student Internship webpage.
