Rappahannock River Research and Information Site
Located
entirely in Virginia, the Rappahannock River is one of several major
tributaries that discharge into the Chesapeake Bay. Besides influencing
the geological and ecological development of this region, the river
is also a key historic and cultural resource. Fredericksburg, one of
our country's most historic cities and the home of Mary Washington College,
is located and developed at the river's "fall line," which marks the
upstream limit of navigable waters.
This site is a collection of research projects conducted by the Spring '98, Fluvial Geomorphology Class (GEOL/EESC 421) on various topics concerning the geological, environmental, and political aspects of the Rappahannock River. The web site itself was developed entirely by students in the class.
