Reme Grefalda, the Librarian for the Asian Pacific American collection at the Library of Congress, is in desperate need for interns to help her process and conduct research on some of the collections that she has received in the last year.  She is looking for students who want library or archival experience and have an interest working with immigrant communities.  Some collections could also use a student with foreign language skills.  And, if possible, she would like them to start working as soon as possible.

Here are some—although not all—of the projects that she is currently working on:

Process/research APA photos from the 1960s to the present (probably mostly from NYC—I think)

Create a bibliography of Asian immigrant newspapers in LC’s collection along with a directory

Process/research Asian immigrant heritage schools (e.g. Community-run schools that teach language, music, cooking, dance, etc. and are often affiliated with a church or hall)

Process Chinese American woman’s papers (I don’t know the name of the donor, but this collection would benefit from someone with Chinese language skills)

Process Housing files on Vietnamese refugees that were sent to the U.S. From Manila

Process newspaper clippings

See Professor's if interested.
