Director of Marketing and Communications
The New York State Historical Association, the Fenimore Art Museum and The
Farmers’ Museum seek a Director of Marketing and Communications to oversee
all marketing, design, media and community relations on local, regional and
national levels. This position is responsible for planning and implementing
overall communications efforts to advance these museums via press, media,
community relations, special events, print and electronic media as well as
other means. Through creative and grassroots promotional efforts, the
Director of Marketing and Communications will increase the public visibility
of these museums as cultural tourism destinations as well as creative
educational organizations. This position will manage the overall aesthetic
vision and graphic identity of the museums’ print material, e-communications
and publications.
The selected candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong skills and experience in developing and implementing an integrated marketing and communications program. He/she will have a demonstrated record of success in formulating creative campaigns and will be skilled in brand management. He/she will be well versed in all forms of media, including the web, print and broadcast, and skilled in the use of direct e-mail, interactive/online marketing, guerrilla marketing and promotional tactics. He/she will possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills, management experience and a successful record of building community relationships and promotional partnerships. BS in advertising, marketing, communications or related field. MBA or related master’s degree preferred. Experience desirable in a prominent cultural, arts or related organization.
NYSHA, Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers’ Museum are located in Cooperstown, part of the Leatherstocking region of New York, between the Catskill Mountains and Mohawk Valley.
