This position is located in the Education Office at the Smithsonian
American Art Museum and provides support in organizing and presenting
virtual museum tours to students in the Department of Defense Education
Activity (DoDEA).
Major duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Plans student art activities and the type of virtual tours
that are best suited for the educational program requirements.
· Reviews DoDEA visual arts standards and suggests curricula
that meet educators' needs consistent with the standards.
· Instructs docents on content and curricular goals of new
tours and participates in virtual tours as appropriate.
· Assists in fulfilling administrative and logistical
requirements related to the programs including requesting reproduction
rights, photography and duplication.
Evaluation will be based on the following knowledge, skills and
abilities:
· Ability to prepare education materials according to
curriculum standards.
· Ability to incorporate artwork into teaching materials.
· Knowledge of museum education programs.
· Ability to learn and use information technology.
· Ability to communicate orally to prepare instructions and
reports.
· Ability to communicate in writing to give instruction or
training sessions.
