Fall Homestead Workshop: Doing Oral Histories
Yes, it is that time again! We have extended our partnership with the Homestead Resort to offer hands-on workshops in the lovely setting of the Alleghany Mountains. This time, our workshop focuses on oral histories. How do you decide who to interview? How do you develop appropriate questions? What are good settings for interviews? How do you record and preserve them? What do you do with them once you have them? We will be answering all these questions and more. The first day of this workshop will be classroom time, the rest of the workshop will be conducting oral histories of long time Homestead staff.
Cost: $125, includes 2 nights at the Homestead (you do need to be a VAM member, or a staff person at a VAM member museum, to be eligible for this program)
Dates: September 30-October 2
This workshop is only open to 10 participants, and is first come, first served. Please register by calling Jennifer Weiskotten at 804-788-5823.
Carpool Credit
Our commitment to saving resources, and to helping you do more with less has not wavered. We are continuing our carpool credit this year--last year, we gave out over $50 in credit to workshop participants who carpooled to a program. Remember, come to a workshop with two other people in your car, and all three of you get $5 credit toward a future workshop
