LOCATION
Orvieto is a small yet very lively town built on the top of a massive tufa rock, overlooking the beautiful rolling hills of the Orvieto vine-country. In a recent article appeared in the Sophisticated Traveler of the New York Times it is said that Orvieto “retains its character as a place that seamlessly integrates the charm of the Romanesque, the Gothic and the Renaissance, while somehow managing to embrace the occasional Benetton store and Internet café.” A five minute ride with a charming funicular takes you to the modern city of Orvieto Scalo, which is very well connected by train to some of the most coveted Italian art-cities, such as Florence and Rome, both less then one hour and a half away.
