IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The Housing and Dining Contract is binding for the full academic year and is made for a space in UMW-operated residence areas with the individual student named on the contract.

  • Due to the nature of the lottery and housing available, we cannot guarantee housing into your preferred building (including the University Apartments) or with a preferred roommate, or that you will be housed on-campus during the housing selection process in March. Some students will receive assignments in temporary housing.
  • If you have met the contract deadline, you are guaranteed housing.
  • Failure to be housed during housing selection is not reason for release from the contract.
  • Furthermore, failure to receive a requested room change, such as placement in the apartments, with a preferred roommate, or into a preferred building is not a reason for release from your housing contract.
  • If preferred roommates are housed separately, they are welcome to pursue a room swap if their assigned roommates are in agreement to reside together.
  • Individuals without roommates may select housing on selection nights. For details, see information posted under “Searching for a Roommate.”
  • All students who are assigned to special interest areas, residence hall staff and their preferred roommates, and medically accommodated students are required to submit the housing contract no later than February 13, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. Failure to meet this deadline will result in loss of housing assignment.
  • Students residing off-campus do not automatically have access to the University Health Center. Full-time commuting students may use the Health Center only after completing a request form and paying a semester fee. Please contact the Health Center for additional information
  • Communication is especially important during this process. Updates are posted to our web site daily during General Housing Selection.  Throughout the housing selection process we also use all student emails, postings in residence halls, table tents in Seacobeck and the Eagles Nest, and at times wooden standards on the campus walkway and in locations frequented by our students including Seacobeck, the student center, and library. We also update the Residence Life web site throughout the year with important information and reminders.   Please email us your questions at rlif@umw.edu.

To be eligible for housing selection ...

All students listed below who wish to participate in housing selection are required to submit a Housing and Dining Services Contract through the Eaglelink portal beginning Monday, February 2 and ending Friday, February 13, 2009 at 4:00 p.m.  Students who do not meet this deadline will not be eligible to participate in Housing Selection.

    • Current residential students;
    • Fifth-year seniors, students pursuing a Masters;
    • Students who will student teach;
    • Scholarship recipients required to live on campus.

Students returning from Study Abroad or an approved leave of absence are eligible to participate in housing selection after submitting the Housing and Dining Services contract and the $200 housing deposit by the February 13, 2009 deadline.
