Information for Prospective and New Students

This site contains useful information about living at UMW and is directed primarily at those who are looking to join or are about to join the University of Mary Washington community.

UMW values the diversity of our students and makes housing assignments without regard to race, creed, religion, national origin, or sexual orientation. It's important to remember that students come from diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and attitudes. A university campus is a smaller version of society as a whole, and students should understand that all members of the community have rights and responsibilities.

** Incoming residential students for Fall 2008 **

• All incoming residential students will be filing their housing contracts via Eaglelink beginning May 15, 2008. The Housing and Dining Services contract can be found under the University Life tab. You do not need to submit a paper copy of the contract.
• Incoming students are not required to submit additional deposit money with their housing contracts.  If you have any questions, please contact our office at 540-654-1058 or via email at rlif@umw.edu.
• All residential students do need to submit a Housing and Dining Contract.
• If students are having difficulty with UMW Eaglelink, they should contact the Help Desk at 540-654-2255 or via email at helpdesk@umw.edu for assistance.
• We anticipate that room assignments will be completed and available after July 7, 2008. All room and roommate information will be available via Eaglelink.
• While we do our best to accommodate building preferences, we can not accommodate requests for specific types of room (double, single, etc.) or bathroom style.
• For specific roommate requests to be considered for incoming students, each student must mutually request the other and the request submitted via the contract no later than June 13, 2008. Requests submitted after this date cannot be honored.
• Those with preferred roommates are not guaranteed to be assigned to a double room and may be system assigned together to a triple or a quad.
• Should you need to update any information provided, please notify the Office of Residence Life in writing and include your printed name and address with signature and date. Information updates will also be accepted via your UMW email account. Phone requests will not be honored.
