Summer Destinations 2008

Bobby Brickman ’08 moved to Washington, DC this summer to pursue a career in sound design. He now works as an electrics intern at the Studio Theatre.

Victoria Cira ’09, Layton Kuchinski ’08 and Diane Rogers’08 interned as stitchers for the Black Hills Playhouse in South Dakota where the company lived and worked on a five-show season in a small forest campground. Layton serve as costume shop manager, while Diane and Victoria created costumes, worked wardrobe during performances, and cared for and repaired the costumes. Victoria also designed and styled three period wigs for Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure.

Emma Klemt '08 moved to Arlington this summer work as a Box Office Assistant at Signature Theatre in Arlington, VA, while she auditions for roles in area plays and musicals.

Samantha Packard ’09 worked as a dance teacher at the Followspot Theater Camp in Fairfax County. In addition to teaching, she choreographed Annie, Grease, Seussical the Musical, and The Wizard of Oz.

Katie Robinson ’09 camped for four months in Marshall, North Carolina, working as a white water rafting guide primarily on Section 9 of the French Broad River as well as both the Nolichuky and Watuga Rivers in Tennessee.

Michelle Sanders ’11 worked at a residential 4-H camp in New Jersey for seven weeks as a creative arts counselor. She taught drama, pottery, and arts and crafts and worked with the drama classes to perform scenes for the entire camp.
David Ryan Spry ’08 spent two weeks in the prestigious Overtures Program sponsored by Signature Theatre at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Upon the completion of Overtures he moved to New York where he is an intern for Dodger Properties, producers of Jersey Boys on Broadway. He also works as a treasurer in the box office at the French Institute: Alliance Française.

Donna Weber ’08 worked as the Assistant Box Office Manager at Georgia Shakespeare in Atlanta, Georgia where she worked on As You Like It, The Merchant Of Venice, All's Well That Ends Well, and the Family Classic Series: Tom Thumb The Great.

Beth White ’09 was a carpentry intern and stagehand for the Wolf Trap Opera Company at Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts in Vienna, VA where she worked on Un Giorno di Regno by Giuseppe Verdi, Alcina by George Frederic Handel, and Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss.

Jennifer Whiteside ’09 worked as an intern at Theatre IV, a children's theatre in Richmond, VA where she explored the management of the theatre by rotating through the accounting, tour, and marketing departments.
Taylor Williams ’11 was the assistant counselor for Theatre Camp and Film Camp at the Montpelier Center for the Arts. He was also the music director for the Theatre Camp.
