History Exhibitions Committee

The Mary Washington History Exhibitions Committee is an ad-hoc advisory committee to the Centennial Celebration Major Institutional Events Subcommittee. 

The purpose of the committee is to coordinate the planning for Mary Washington history exhibitions, whether on campus, off campus or traveling exhibitions, as part of the institution’s Centennial Celebration

Charge: 

  • to create historical exhibitions at Combs Hall, the Fredericksburg Area Museum, Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont, the Ridderhof Martin Gallery, the Simpson Library and at other possible venues, as well as a traveling exhibition
  • to share information concerning the focus and/or theme of the individual exhibitions
  • to coordinate the request for display materials from alumni, faculty, staff or other constituency groups
  • to facilitate communication between the organizers of the various history exhibitions so that all groups are kept informed and involved in this aspect of the planning for the institution’s Centennial Celebration
