Major Institutional Events Subcommittee

This subcommittee will coordinate all major Centennial celebrations and events that are institutional in nature.   Many of these events have existing operational budgets at the institution and are the responsibility of such entities as the Board of Visitors (Commencement), Office of the President (President’s Book Club), Alumni Office (Homecoming and Reunion Weekend), Development Office (Heritage Society and Scholarship Luncheon) and other major administrative areas of the University.  This subcommittee, while working directly with the President, will study the feasibility of establishing one or more new institutional events, such as a Charter Day or Founders Day. The Major Institutional Events Subcommittee will be responsible for coordinating such programs as new major institutional events, possibly including a Charter Day or Founders Day, Legislative Day, etc.; and existing major institutional events, including Commencement, Cultural Awareness Series, Multicultural Fair, Family Weekend, Homecoming, Reunion Weekend, Fredericksburg Forum, President’s Book Club, Honor Convocation, President’s Council Dinner, Heritage Society and Scholarship Luncheon, and the activities at Belmont and the James Monroe Museum.
