A Place of Learning
|
Mary Washington’s students and alumni can analyze, communicate, ask questions — and find answers. Our students are on a journey of discovery and growth, and they are capable of making a positive difference in the world. With small classes and restricted enrollment, Mary Washington is small enough for professors to know students by name and to have the time to care about each and every one. From the Fredericksburg campus — where it all began in 1908 — to the College of Graduate and Professional Studies — where adults today are achieving their fullest potential — the University of Mary Washington continues to be at the forefront of creative, challenging, and innovative learning. It truly is a special place enhanced by private support from people who care. A Way of LifeClasses are taught in academic buildings, housing is provided in residence halls — but people are at the heart of the Mary Washington experience — from caring faculty who guide and mentor students, to classmates who support each other during life’s challenges, to best friends who celebrate career and personal successes. This harmonious atmosphere encourages students to work together through various clubs and councils, athletic activities, and community service projects. UMW students pledge and adhere to a code of honor that unites both campuses and generations of Mary Washington alumni. The honor system encourages members of the University community to take responsibility for their own actions and to make honorable decisions. Mary Washington has offered students a safe, nurturing environment for the past century — and, with your help through the Centennial Campaign, it will continue to do so for the next 100 years. |
