Meta R. Braymer serves as dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies in Stafford County.

Dr. Braymer earned her doctoral degree in English from the University of Tennessee, her master's degree in English from Ohio State University, and a bachelor's degree in English from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee.

She has been at the University of Mary Washington since 1990 and has led the development of the institution’s second campus which focuses primarily on graduate programs for the region’s adult students.  She is active in the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce and served as its 2004 Chair.  In 2003 she was awarded the Washington Medallion for Service to the University of Mary Washington.

Prior to coming to UMW, Dr. Braymer was Director of Evening, Summer and Off-campus Credit Programs at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.  She has also taught at the University of Richmond, the University of Tennessee, and Virginia Commonwealth University.
