Degree Plans
Effective fall 2008, Degree Plans for the Bachelor of Professional Studies degree program are no longer required.
Bachelor of Professional Studies students are encouraged to work with the appropriate Assistant Dean in the CGPS Office of Advising Services, to formulate an Academic Program Planning Guide for documenting and projecting academic credit and course work in fulfillment of degree requirements. This Academic Program Planning Guide can provide students with an approximate timetable for degree completion. The template for the Guide is available at: http://www.umw.edu/cgps/bps/resources_for_current_stud/default.php.
Questions regarding the Academic Program Planning Guide should be directed to the CGPS Office of Advising Services.
Students should conduct a final degree audit at least one semester prior to the planned semester of degree completion. Consequently, it is strongly recommended that students use the Degree Evaluation option in Banner SSB and review their degree audit periodically to follow their academic progress toward the degree. If it appears that there are discrepancies in the academic record, or if there are questions regarding the academic record, please contact the CGPS Office of Advising Services.
NOTE: Students who have an approved BPS Degree Plan on file with the CGPS Office of Advising Services may continue updating the Degree Plan as they plan for degree completion. Please contact Ms. Janet Cropp, Assistant Dean of Advising Services, at jcropp@umw.edu or 540/286-8020 for assistance. Students, who recently submitted a proposed Degree Plan, will receive a copy of the Degree Plan once it is approved. Those students may continue to utilize the Degree Plan through degree completion.
