Memorandum from the Business Faculty
College of Graduate and Professional Studies
We are delighted to announce program changes in the Master’s degrees that will enhance your academic preparation as you pursue meaningful career goals.
To continue to provide quality programs that prepare our students for the many challenges and increasing competition in today’s organizations, there are several changes that become effective beginning with the fall 2007 term. These changes are based on input from a variety of students, faculty, and employers during the last year and a half. Please note that any changes in program requirements apply only to students entering the program in fall 2007 or later.
Changes that might impact current students are minimal and primarily involve new course numbers, titles, and credits. The adjustments that will be reflected in the fall 2007 schedule are listed below. Many of these changes will in fact offer students more flexibility in completing degree requirements.
- All 6-credit undergraduate foundation courses will be changed to 3-credit courses. Current MBA, MSMIS, & Dual Degree students can find the equivalent courses in the MBA Foundation and Core Course Conversion Guide. MSMIS & Dual Degree Students should also consult the 2007 BPS Conversion Guide.
- Most of the new 3-credit courses will be offered in 8-week sessions. Two 8-week sessions are offered each fall and spring term, and one 8-week session is available during the summer.
- The new concentration requirements apply only to students entering the program beginning in fall 2007.
- The new courses are listed in a revised graduate long-term schedule and undergraduate long-term schedule. Students are strongly encouraged to consult with faculty or academic advisors when using the revised long-term schedules to plan how to fulfill remaining degree requirements.
- If you have any questions about these changes, please contact your faculty or academic advisor.
We welcome your feedback as we make the transition to new requirements for students entering in fall 2007 and beyond.
