Clearinghouses
ERIC
Clearinghouses Still on the Web - ERIC information was collected
and processed by a number ERIC Clearinghouses that were the subject
matter specialists on a particular topic; for example, disabilities
and gifted education. The U.S. Department of Education closed the
ERIC Clearinghouses in December 2003 prior to the new Education
Resources Information Center (ERIC) database going online in
December 2004. However, there are a few clearinghouse sites online
that remain a useful research resource.

Practical Assessment Research and
Evaluation (PARE)
Practical Assessment, Research and Evaluation (PARE) is an on-line
journal supported, in part, by the Department of Measurement, Statistics,
and Evaluation at the University of Maryland, College Park. Its
purpose is to provide education professionals access to refereed
articles that can have a positive impact on assessment, research,
evaluation, and teaching practice.

Counseling Outfitters
LLC is a new company created by the Co-Directors of the ERIC Clearinghouse
on Counseling and Student Services (ERIC/CASS) to continue the development
and delivery of many of the services and products previously provided
by ERIC/CASS.
Disabilities
and Gifted Education
Resource material was incorporated into the on the Council
for Exceptional Children (CEC) site. Digest, fact sheets, minibibs,
links to online resources, links to the laws, and other resources
are still available at the Information
Center on Disabilities and Gifted Education.
Educational
Management
All the ERIC Digests, Research Roundups, books, Trends & Issues,
Directory of Organizations, and other publications that were produced
by the University of Oregon Eugene will still be available at the
College of Education University
of Oregon site.
Languages
and Linguistics
Links to ERIC
Digests, other databases, directories and free publications,
Web sites, organizations of interest, and conferences are available
at the Center for Applied Linguistics
site.
Reading,
English and Communication
The Family Literacy Center at Indiana
University's Clearinghouse on Reading, English, and Communication
provides "Parent Brochures" from the U.S. Department of
Education, Parents and Children Together Online Magazine, Parent
Talk Magazine, and links to frequently requested information such
as, Question and Answer Service, Homework Helpers, Parental Involvement
in Reading and Writing Pages, National Parent Information Network,
and other sites. The Clearinghouse
on Reading, English, and Communication provides public domain
materials, including ERIC
Digests and other publications, Web Resources, and online courses
for the language arts.
Rural
Education and Small Schools http://www.ael.org/cress/
The Appalachia Educational
Laboratory, referred to simply as AEL, provides access to ERIC
Digests and publications that can be ordered online for: American
Indian/Alaska Native Education, Mexican American Education, Migrant
Education, Outdoor Education, Rural Education, and Small Schools.

Math and Environmental Education
Educational
REALMS (Resources for Engaging Active Learners in Mathematics
and Science) provides access to public domain materials originally
produced by the ERIC Clearinghouse for Science Mathematics and Environmental
Education. Resources include: bulletins, environment, mathematics,
and science digests, lesson plans, and links to journals.
Social
Studies/Social Science Education
The Social Studies
Development Center provides digests, links to other social studies
resources, social studies resource organizations directory, FAQs
for teachers, and social studies standards and curriculum frameworks.
Teaching
and Teacher Education
The American Association of Colleges
for Teacher Education (AACTE) will house some of the free Clearinghouse
digests
and white
papers and in the short term continue to sell the books produced
by the Clearinghouse while still in print.
Urban
Education
The Institute for Urban and
Minority Education (IUME) maintains an archive
of ERIC publications, including, on urban education. The "Urban
Diversity Series"
consists of monographs, literature and research reviews, and annotated
bibliographies concerning educational, socioeconomic, and social
and psychological issues involved in the development of diverse
urban populations. The "Trends and Issues Series" explores
social and educational developments that are changing the nature
of schooling for urban and minority students. "Parent Guides"
are short articles addressed to parents about their children's schooling.
