Commencement Ceremony

9 a.m.  Ball Circle  

The degree candidates will assemble for the processional at Jefferson Square no later than 8:15 a.m. – inside the driveway around Combs, Jefferson, and Bushnell halls. Candidates should be in academic regalia. Faculty members will be available to assist with regalia-related questions.

Candidates for degrees will proceed down Campus Walk, through the faculty and President’s receiving lines, to Ball Circle for the conferring of degrees precisely at 9:00 a.m.

Stafford Campus regalia pick up information below

  • April 17-20 in the North Atrium
  • After Pick-Up Days, you may pick up your regalia in the Stafford Campus Library
  • Stafford Campus Library Hours: M-Th, 1:00 – 9:00 p.m.; Fri, 1:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sat, 9:00 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Commencement Picnic Lunch Tickets

Tickets are on sale for the Commencement picnic lunch.  Starting April 1 through April 30 you can purchase tickets online at  www.umwcatering.catertrax.com.  Tickets bought online will be mailed the following business day.  Starting April 16 and continuing through April 30 picnic tickets will be available to purchase in person at any register in the dining hall.  If you have any questions please contact UMW Dining Services Catering Office at 540/654-1930.

Senior Days

Senior Days were in full swing last week. The beautiful weather brought over half of the UMW seniors into the Bookstore to see what needed to be purchased for their graduation, including regalia, frames and announcements. 

The Ecology Club and Jostens, official provider of UMW regalia, joined forces to benefit the Nature Conservancy by donating $1 for every hang tag collected from students so don’t forget to hand in the hang tag.

Grad Nights

“Grad Nights” are coming up next week. They will take place on Wednesday, February 15 and 16, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Stafford Campus (North Building). This is the time to order your regalia, personalized graduation announcements, diploma frames, and much more. Please note:  All graduates who plan to participate in the Commencement ceremony must purchase regalia.

Senior Countdown

Friday, February 3rd was the official countdown to Commencement, marking 100 days until the ceremony. Class Council hosted an exciting “Casino Night” with roulette tables, blackjack tables, and craps tables. The Great Hall was transformed into a club atmosphere with food, gift tables, and music.  A fun and exciting way to start the countdown to Commencement!

Check your mail for the recently delivered Commencement postcard.  This provides a list of important events coming up in the near future.  It was mailed to your permanent address.
