Degree Candidates
The degree candidates will assemble for the processional at Jefferson Square by 8:15 a.m. Candidates should be in academic regalia – inside the driveway around Combs, Jefferson, and Bushnell halls. Candidates should be in academic regalia. Faculty members will be available to assist with regalia-related questions.
Candidates for degrees will proceed down Campus Walk, through the faculty and President’s receiving lines, to Ball Circle for the conferring of degrees precisely at 9:00 a.m.
Friends and Family
The University of Mary Washington welcomes friends and families to attend our Undergraduate Commencement ceremony. Seating is available on a first-come, first-serve basis and tickets are not provided. A picnic luncheon will take place after the ceremony in Chandler Grove. Ticket information for the luncheon is available here.
Rain Notification
The Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony on May 11, 2013 will take place rain or shine. Please bring umbrellas, rain jackets, and other appropriate rain gear in preparation for rainy weather.
Please note that the ceremony will be live streamed on the web and therefore may be viewed by computer or other device. If conditions are unfavorable for some members of your party to attend, they may access the live streaming by clicking here.
Should unsafe conditions arise during the ceremony, such as extreme storms or lightening, guests will be directed to shelter in one of the University’s buildings. Degrees will be available for pick-up in the William M. Anderson Center half an hour after the threat has passed. Notifications will be placed on the UMW website (www.umw.edu).
