AJ is passionate about great design! She began her design career in the ad agency arenas in Richmond, Va. For nearly two decades she has been involved in just about every aspect and every medium of design that she can get her hands on. Because she is curious (and always slightly distracted) she’s dabbled in a lot of different creative adventures: storyboard artist, 3-D animator, illustrator, videographer, photographer, editor, production manager, graphic designer, and art director, to name a few. AJ holds a BFA in Communication Arts and Design from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Maria has been working as a graphic designer, and illustrator for the last five years, with roles in advertising agencies, souvenir design, and exhibit design. She graduated from Daemen College in Buffalo, New York with a BFA in graphic design and illustration. She is currently enrolled at UMW to complete her master’s degree in education. She joined UMW’s Office of Design Services in June 2007.

Kathy began her working career in 1989 after earning a distinguished diploma in executive secretarial studies from Branell Business College in Nashville, Tennessee. As Program Manager with the Greater Washington Board of Trade (BOT) in Washington, D.C. from 1989 to 1998, she assisted with the event planning of two major annual black tie dinners, arranged meetings for the Board of Directors and annual retreats for the Area Business Development Officials Committee (ABDOC). She later became the assistant to the consultant hired to solicit funding from BOT members for the creation of what is now the Greater Washington Initiative (GWI). She joined UMW’s Design Services in 1999.

Mia began working for UMW in June 2005 as a web content manager under Web Communications. She began working for the Office of University Relations in April 2007. She graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.A. in art and a concentration in graphic design. She has more than 15 years of graphic design experience in both print and web through corporate and non-profit employment throughout the Metropolitan area.
