DTLT Bluehost Experiment: Teaching & Learning Opportunities
Currently, all DTLT employees have accounts on an externally hosted server with the company Bluehost. This space allows us to install and run a variety of open-source scripts, including blogs, wikis (collaborative writing and editing tools requiring only a web browser), content management systems, discussion forums, and more. We are interested in working with faculty to experiment with using these scripts for teaching and learning purposes. Faculty members who are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity should contact their ITS.
Our work on Bluehost focuses primarily on "pilot" projects at this time, and we would be interested in using the experience as a means to further our conversation about providing best-of-breed technology solutions for teaching and learning at UMW. Since the sites are hosted on an external server, we cannot make guarantees of service. Faculty should be aware that this is an experiment and the technology is somewhat unpredictable. That said, we will do what we can to support the service throughout the semester.
